New National Geographic Day Tours dive into conservation, culture, history
National Geographic Expeditions Day Tours, to be operated by TUI's Intercruises, will focus on conservation, culture and history and follow the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.

Debuting in summer 2023, intially at Mediterranean destinations, the tours are open to all cruise lines via Intercruises and are planned to roll out globally in the future with booking options through airlines and hotels.
This new initiative was announced Wednesday at Seatrade Cruise Med in Málaga.
'Captivating storytelling and experiences'
National Geographic Day Tours are designed to deliver the captivating storytelling and experiences inspired by National Geographic’s legacy of exploration and understanding of the world. Examples include an in-depth exploration of the Etruscan civilization, secrets of art restoration and how oyster farming helps regenerate the marine ecosystem.

48 tours to start
The initial lineup features 48 tours.
'The Heritage of the Etruscans'
For example, from Civitavecchia (Rome), 'The Heritage of the Etruscans' delves into this ancient civilization with a visit to the Etruscan Necropolis of Tarquinia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Archeological Park of Vulci. Participants will learn about the important research and new data brought to life by National Geographic Explorers who have studied these famed archeological sites. They will also discuss the Etruscan influence on modern Italian society.
'The Secrets of Restoration'
At Barcelona, this tour highlights the importance of art conservation, as travelers meet an expert restorer at the National Museum of Art of Catalonia, who will lead them on a private tour of the museum's restoration rooms — an experience exclusive to National Geographic. This is followed by a visit to the Romanesque collection, the biggest and oldest in Europe.
'The Benefits and Flavors of Oyster Farming'
This Dubrovnik tour focuses on sustainability, as travelers discover the benefits of oyster farming and learn how it helps regenerate the marine ecosystem. Participants will get a hands-on experience, roaming the waters of the bay while listening to the stories of local oyster and shellfish farmers. They'll also get to taste oysters straight from the sea.
