Dedicated sailings and shore excursions can be planned during the period, enabling passengers to discover some of the most poignant locations of World War Two, with dedicated WWII landing routes a feature.

Background

In Normandy on June 6, 1944 Allied Forces made up of over 150,000 soldiers from Britain, America, Canada and France attacked German military forces and gained a victory that became the turning point for World War II in Europe.

In Var, where the Second World War landing is less known, troops representing 94,000 soldiers disembarked on August 15, 1944 as part of operation Dragoon aiming to liberate major navy ports Toulon and Marseille, with success.

Var Provence Cruise Club – a MedCruise associate member – Le Have Cruise Club, Var Tourisme and Normandie Tourisme are among those involved in the events.
