Norwegian Spirit’s 2020 Asia program is canceled

Cape Town voyage will end in Piraeus, not Singapore

The 24-day voyage departing Cape Town, South Africa, on March 22 will no longer end in Singapore. Instead, the itinerary has been revised to a 27-day sailing concluding in Piraeus, Greece. 

Norwegian Cruise Line said passengers who sail the modified itinerary will receive a 50% refund. Those who cancel by Feb. 14 will get a full refund.

Additionally, all Norwegian Spirit Asia itineraries from April 15 through Dec. 7 have been canceled. 

Full refunds and 10% future cruise credit

Passengers will receive a full refund and a 10% future cruise credit.

In both instances, if airfare was purchased independently, Norwegian will cover up to $300 per person for any air change fees.

Strikes in France delay refurbishment

Norwegian Spirit has been undergoing an extensive drydock refurbishment in Marseille prior to undertaking its planned Asia program. Due to strikes in France over the past two weeks, the renovation period has been exctended, requiring a modification of the Feb. 11 cruise. 

That is now scheduled to depart from Civitavecchia (Rome) on Feb. 14 and the calls at Piraeus, Rhodes, Limassol (Cyprus) and Khasab (Oman) are canceled. The ship will still visit Haifa, Israel; Port Said, Suez Canal and Safaga, Eqypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Muscat, Oman; and Abu Dhabi, and will end in Dubai, as planned. 

Passengers who cancel by Feb. 13 will get a refund. Those who sail will get a 25% refund and a 25% future cruise credit. Passengers who arranged their flights independently will be compensated up to $300 per person in airfare change fees.
