Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas clocked up a new maiden port call when it arrived in Valencia today.
Francesca Antonelli, head of marketing and cruises at València Port Authority (PAV) handed over a traditional Valencian terracotta socarrat designed with maritime motifs to the ship's captain Per Kristoffersen. The tile is given to all ships calling at Valenciaport for the very first time.
Activities
Passengers travelling onboard the vessel – which comprises 16 decks and has capacity for some 5,000 guests – have been able to visit the city and participate in excursions to its aquarium, Albufera National Park and Lladró factory among other sites.
Valencia also offers sport and hiking activities, bicycle and skateboarding tours plus experiences spanning gastronomy, culture, wine, music and history.
Plans for Valencia
The port authority and the Provincial Council of Valencia are currently preparing a plan to boost cruise tourism in the city's inland regions and municipalities.
