Initial safety assessments have been conducted at Port Canaveral following the passage of Hurricane Ian and cruises are cleared to resume Saturday.

The US Coast Guard captain of the port said full assessments were still being conducted and set a temporary safety zone until those can be completed.

Record seven cruise ships Saturday

A record seven cruise ships are expected, and since the port has six cruise terminals, MSC Divina will arrive, drop off passengers and depart, enabling Carnival Liberty to use that facility. Then Divina will be back Sunday to embark passengers.

The five other ships due in Saturday are Disney Fantasy, Mariner of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Mardi Gras and Carnival Freedom.
