Port of Kiel is anticipating 400,000 passengers this year from 116 cruise calls in a season starting with the arrival of AIDAluna on April 25 and finishing with the departure of AIDAvita on October 8.

Highlights of the season are the maiden voyage of TUI Cruises' Mein Schiff 5 on July 16 and the first calls by Holland America Line's Zuiderdam on May 14 and Koningsdam on June 30. In addition The World will visit between May 30 and June 2 as well as to the first visit to Kiel of P&O’s Arcadia on June 22 during the Kieler Woche regatta.

The biggest ship to call will be 114,500gt Costa Pacifica while the most frequent ships visiting the Kiel Fiord this year will be those of AIDA, TUI and MSC.

Overall last year, the port had 132 calls and 458,152 passengers, a rise of 29% over the previous year. 'We can look back on a record cruise season,' declared port md, Dirk Claus.
