Port of Skagen’s new cruise facilities running ahead of schedule

The DKr226m project, enabling the port to accommodate ships up to 330mtr alongside was originally planned to be open by April 2015, however the new cruise quay is now completed as well as bollards fitted while 850mtr of the 1.3km long breakwater is finished and dredging works in the new basin (removal of 580,000 cu mtr of sand) is 95% complete, reports the destination's cruise manager, Anne Sofie Rønne Jensen.

Work on the reception facilities, serving both the new cruise quay (pier 9) and the existing quay (Pier 10), will begin soon. The design is based on findings drawn from interviews with cruise line executives and a report made by Bermello, Ajamil & Partners Inc. in 2013.
