Almost 200,000 passengers are expected on 86 calls in a six-month season stretching from May 7 to Nov. 7.

Eight maiden calls and eight overnight calls

The schedule has 14 double ship days, six triple ship days, eight inaugural calls and eight overnight calls, according to Natalie Allaby, cruise development manager, Port Saint John.

It will be the second year for passengers and crew to experience the Area 506 Waterfront Container Village. Allaby said this 'transformed the welcome for visitors and residents alike last season; some past vendors experienced such success that they have set up permanent locations uptown.'

One of the world's biggest cruise ships returns

The schedule also includes a call by Oasis of the Seas for the second year in a row on May 30.

According to Port Saint John, the cruise business brings over $68m annually to the city and the southern New Brunswick economies. This includes direct spending by cruise lines, passengers and crew in the Bay of Fundy region and direct jobs for New Brunswickers.

Historic uptown

'We are privileged to share our historic uptown, made up of unique boutiques, restaurants, galleries and special landmarks,' said Nancy Tissington, executive director, Uptown Saint John.
