Porto Cruise Terminal anticipates a ‘record-breaking year,’ according to a spokesperson at Leixões port, with 143 calls already scheduled and passenger numbers set to climb beyond 150,000.

The record year is dependent on ‘sanitary conditions permitting,’ the spokesperson added.

First cruise call of the year

AIDA Cruises’ AIDAsol was the first cruise vessel of the year to call at the Port of Leixões, arriving at Porto Cruise Terminal on January 2 from Funchal.

The 2,200-passenger vessel was carrying more than 1,200 mostly German passengers and went on to call at Zeebrugge, Belgium.
