Ports of Stockholm received 206 cruise ships in 2022, 110 more than in 2021, and passenger numbers reached 450,000 representing an increase of 86% on the previous year.
Down on pre-pandemic figures
This is still some way off Ports of Stockholm’s record 2019 figures – 281 cruise ships and 650,000 passengers – which it attributed to the ongoing conflict.
An unexpected outcome
Ports of Stockholm went on to explain that a ‘positive and unique’ outcome was that more than half of all cruise ships chose to stay one or more nights in Stockholm, providing a major boost to Stockholm’s tourism industry.
