Portsmouth welcomes Serenissima under new guise

Operated by Noble Caledonia, the veteran cruise ship has a country house style influenced by 18th century Swedish design. Having first sailed in 1960 a recently completed multi-million pound refurbishment resulted in the claim that no two cabins are the same.

Serenissima is currently mid-way through a seven-day cruise of the Channel Islands and Isles of Scilly. Six Zodiacs on board enable passengers to explore smaller destinations including Sark, Alderney, Tresco, St Martins and St Agnes.

Island Sky, another Noble Caledonian vessel, also visited Portsmouth last weekend, along with Swan Hellenic’s Minerva.

The busy weekend was a prelude to an even busier first week of June. Seven cruise ships will be calling in the run up to D-Day commemorations to visit events, museums and historic landmarks in the city.
