Queen Anne arrives in Southampton ahead of maiden voyage
Queen Anne arrived in Southampton, its homeport, for the first time Tuesday evening ahead of its maiden voyage.
The new ship was accompanied by small craft from the local boating community as a celebration of its historic arrival while navigating Southampton Water.
249th Cunarder
The 249th ship to sail under the Cunard flag came from Italy following an official handover ceremony at the Fincantieri Maghera shipyard in Venice on April 19, with thousands of spectators taking up vantage points along Southampton Water to catch a glimpse of the 113,000gt, 3,000-passenger Queen.
Seatrade Cruise New will be among the first to see the ship as part of a VIP overnight celebration event May 1-2.
Plaque ceremony
An official blessing and plaque exchange ceremony will take place whilst the ship is alongside at Southampton’s Mayflower Cruise Terminal on May 3.
Maiden voyage
Queen Anne’s seven-night maiden voyage to Lisbon via La Coruna gets underway on Friday. The vessel will then depart for a 14-night voyage to the Canary Islands.
