Royal Caribbean plans short Bahamas cruises for Utopia of the Seas
Utopia of the Seas will commence three- and four-night voyages from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas starting July 2024.
It will frequent Perfect Day at CocoCay and Nassau.
Bookings open June 23 with Crown & Anchor Society loyalty members able to book from June 22.
A first for an Oasis-class ship
It is the first time a brand-new Oasis-class ship has ventured straight into operating short itineraries.
Utopia of the Seas will be the first LNG-powered Oasis-class ship and the second LNG ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet after Icon of the Seas.
Activities and venues
Launching in June 2024, Utopia of the Seas will house more than 20 bars and entertainment spots, including all-new Caribbean bar Pesky Parrot on the Royal Promenade which will serve fruit-based cocktails alongside frozen drinks, and two casinos comprising more than 370 slot machines.
Details of a new immersive dining experience combining multiple courses, technology and different destinations and storylines is set to be revealed at a later date.
Live music venues include Spotlight Karaoke, Latin hotspot Boleros, Music Hall, English pub Bell & Barley with a live guitarist, and classic piano bar, Schooner Bar.
Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar and Gio’s Terrazza will span two stories. Serving Italian dishes, wine varietals and classic cocktails with a twist, the venue will extend to a new outside terrace that overlooks the Boardwalk neighborhood and the ocean.
Central Park Izumi window
Joining the Royal Caribbean staple in its new Central Park location is a convenient, new window for Izumi in the Park serving fresh sushi and Japanese-inspired sweets. Next door will be a reimagined Izumi restaurant, with double the teppanyaki tables and new al fresco seating.
Resort-style and sloping beach-entry pools additionally feature, with three pools and three Lime & Coconut bars at the centre of the action. Passengers will be able to hit high-speed waterslides at The Perfect Storm, young children can take on Splashaway Bay, and there will be a new poolside food truck serving casual, handheld bites.
