The new collections can be divided into: ‘Epicurean Delights’ for local cuisine and cooking classes where passengers meet local farmers and taste their produce, and sample wine from award-winning vineyards; ‘Nature’s Wonders,’ comprising itineraries that take in impressive European gardens, valleys and gorges, and castle surroundings; and ‘Seasonal Delights’ made up of events, from Christmas markets to the Netherlands’ tulips in spring.

Demand for longer, immersive experiences

‘As travel continues to grow again, our guests are requesting longer cruise itineraries and deeper cultural experiences…’ offered Ken Muskat, MD, Scenic Group USA. ‘With more than 56 new Scenic Enrich and Freechoice experiences, new Danube itineraries and a new way to choose the perfect European cruises, 2024 promises to be focused on tailoring our ultra-luxury river cruises uniquely to our guests,’ he added.

Two new itineraries

There are two new itineraries – a 10-day ‘Danube in Depth’ that digs deep into the cultures, history and local flavours of the historic cities and towns on the Budapest to Nuremberg (and reverse) route including cooking classes in Bratislava, hikes, and time for independent exploration while making use of Scenic’s Tailormade River Guide app. The eight-day ‘Iconic Danube’ (also available with a three-night Prague extension), includes four countries’ highlights in spring with four departures in April 2024.

Added Scenic Enrich experiences

Two new Scenic Enrich experiences, designed to offer an immersive and exclusive experience, have also been added to the 2024 lineup.

Freechoice experiences

More than 50 new Freechoice experiences are available on Scenic’s 2024 river cruises program, where passengers can choose destinations and activities to suit their interests. Examples include a guided and interactive tour following in the footsteps of the Viking Rollo – the first ruler of Normandy – during the eight-day ‘Highlights of Normandy & the Seine.’

During the 16-day ‘Danube Delta Discovery’ itinerary, passengers can visit the Sisi Museum in Vienna, housing over 300 artefacts that present a picture of the Austrian Empress Elizabeth.

Passengers can also now participate in a round of golf at some of Porto’s best golf courses as part of the 11-day ‘Unforgettable Douro’ sailing.

European city voyages highlights

The line offers 10 different city stays and extensions that can augment almost every  itinerary. The five-day ‘Ljubljana & Zagreb’ extends several itineraries including the 14-day ‘Jewels of Europe’ and takes in the natural beauty of Slovenia and Croatia combined with history, cobblestone streets and glacial lakes. Three nights in either Lisbon or Madrid allow for exploration of the culture and styles of two capital cities before or after sailing on the Douro. And extending an 11-day ‘Black Sea Explorer’ cruise adds six days in Transylvania and a visit to Bran Castle, Romania.

2024 marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the 2024 Paris Olympics. ‘Highlights of Normandy & the Seine’ presents the history and importance of the D-Day landings in Normandy, as well as the countryside along the Seine River. Plus, Scenic offers two-and three-night Paris extensions to allow for more time in the City of Light.

Ultimate River Cruise Combinations integrate some of Scenic’s most popular itineraries. The 23-day ‘North Sea to Black Sea’ is a full sweep of European history, taking in the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers as they wind through eight countries. The 21-day ‘Gems of the Seine & Unforgettable Douro’ enables passengers to encounter cathedrals, architectural wonders and learn about the history or the D-Day landings in Normandy, as well as visit Porto, with passengers able to try the best food and wine from both regions. There are six options that run from 21 to 23 days.
