Sea Cloud Spirit became the first ship to arrive at a new cruise quay in Pauillac, France docking there overnight from May 30-31.

Bordeaux Port invested €2.5m in adapting the facility to accommodate cruise calls. The site, previously dedicated to Airbus traffic, is located 1.8 km downstream from Pauillac city centre, on the left bank of the Gironde estuary, in the heart of the iconic Medoc Wine Region and close to Bordeaux.

New gangways coming soon

New fenders, as well as several dolphins and bollards were added to the existing quay and two new platform gangways will be delivered soon.

Three sites suitable for cruise ships

Bordeaux Port expects a record 66 cruise calls this year, and between 65,000 and 70,000 cruise passengers.

There are now three sites suitable for cruise vessels: Bordeaux city centre for ships of up to 250 meters long (2 berths); Le Verdon, located at the mouth of the Gironde estuary, for ships of any size (2 berths); and Pauillac for ships of up to 320 meters long (one berth).
