Single buoy at Sanary port limits cruise calls to protect sea bed

Port Sanary sur Mer has introduced a mooring buoy to protect its Posidonia sea bed, restricting more than one cruise vessel from calling each day.

The buoy is calibrated for vessels with a maximum length of 224 mtr and a maximum gross tonnage of 56,000 gt. 

Investors 

The buoy cost €500,000 and was cofinanced by L'agence de l'eau Rhône-Méditerranée-Corse, Région Sud, Département du Var and the City of Sanary.

Sanary port

Seadream Yacht Club, Windstar Cruises, Seabourn Cruise Line and Azamara Cruises are set to call at the port this year, according to Port Sanary sur Mer.

The port is the first in the Var Provence Cruise Club network to introduce a buoy.
