Spain’s three busiest cruise ports release key stats
During the first six months of this year, Spanish ports handled a total 2,637,748 cruise passengers from 2,095 calls.
It contrasts with the 4,703,902 passengers and 1,909 call recorded in the first half of 2019, before the pandemic, highlighting the significant drop in passenger numbers per port call.
Barcelona
The Port of Barcelona came foremost in passenger numbers for the first half of 2022 with 670,439 pax and 331 calls. The same period in 2019 showed 1,278,269 pax and 342 calls.
Balearic ports
The Balearic ports follow with 504,608 passengers and 280 calls - down from 1,003,818 and 312, respectively in 2019.
Las Palmas
Close behind in total pax numbers is Las Palmas with 436,956 albeit surpassing all other Spanish ports for the number of port calls: 382. Three years ago the figures stood at 868,525 passengers and 291 calls.
