Carnival Paradise has returned to Tampa after a delay due to the port's closure for Hurricane Idalia
Port Tampa Bay was cleared to open for all vessel operations Thursday evening in the aftermath of Hurricane Idalia, and two cruise ships are among the first back.

Carnival Paradise was the first to arrive and is alongside at Cruise Terminal 3, followed by Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas docking at Cruise Terminal 2.

Next cruises shortened

As earlier reported here, both ships, which were scheduled turn around Thursday in Tampa, will instead operate abbreviated three-night cruises sailing today.

During Hurricane Idalia, Port Tampa Bay's landside operations remained open to ensure the delivery of fuel to state residents and visitors. The port supplies nearly half of Florida’s gas, fuel and petroleum supply and plays a critical role in hurricane preparation and recovery.
