Tender for Buenos Aires Port modernization is delayed

The tender to modernize and operate Buenos Aires Port has been postponed several months, until March.

Gonzalo Mórtola, who leads the General Administration of Ports, cited a high volume of financial and technical inquiries since the tender was announced earlier this year. The plan had been to award a concession in December.

More time for a very complex process

Mórtola said the delay will give potential operators more time to hone their projects and the incoming government the opportunity to internalize what is a very complex process.

Infrastructure works to be carried out under the modernization plan represent an investment of more than $1.91bn over 50 years. They are aimed at renewing Buenos Aires Port with a flexible design, capable of adapting to future needs in a competitive manner and ensuring high environmental and quality standards.
