Tradewind Voyages’ Golden Horizon arrives in UK ahead of July inaugural sailing

Trandewind Voyages’ Golden Horizon arrived at Portland, UK on June 24 ahead of its dress rehearsal on July 1 and inaugural sailing taking place July 19 to 24.

The vessel will spend three days in Portland, before being anchored in Weymouth Bay for three days. 

Test sailing 

Golden Horizon will return to Portland on June 30 for an initial six-night dress rehearsal starting July 1, calling Falmouth, Fowey, Dartmouth and Poole and returning to Portland. 

A second round-trip test sailing will depart Portland on July 7, following the same route and concluding on July 13. 

Inaugural cruise mid-July 

The ship will makes its inaugural sailing 19-24 July, which includes two days at sea plus stops in Cowes and Plymouth. 

Passengers’ drinks are included in the sailing to mark the occasion.  

Itinerary 

The vessel will make a July 15-19 Dover round-trip, with visits to Cowes and Torquay before its July 19-24 inaugural sailing - a Dover round-trip with visits to Cowes and Plymouth. 

From July 24-31 the tall ship will embark on its South Coast Staycation, a Dover round-trip, with visits to Portsmouth, Falmouth, Dartmouth and Poole. 

A Cowes Week Taster sailing takes place July 31 to August 4, cruising Dover to Harwich and calling at Cowes and Torquay. 

Its August 4-14 English South Coast and Islands consists of a Harwich round-trip visiting Cowes Week, Dartmouth, Falmouth, Isle of Scilly, Plymouth and Poole. 

Owing to UK government restrictions, the line has ‘been forced to make several changes’ to its itineraries. 

Sailing at nearly 50% capacity 

Golden Horizon will sail with no more than 136 passengers on board; it has a 272-passenger capacity and 140 cabins, all sea-facing. 

The line launched its 2022/23 sailings earlier this month.
