Traffic up at Xiamen International Cruise Terminal

Last year, Xiamen handled 113 cruise ships, with passenger numbers soaring to 175,793 from 56,444 in 2014.

Among the total, 47 ships undertoo turnarounds at Xiamen with passenger numbers representing 98,399, a surge from 20,009 in 2014.

The main destinations from ships cruising ex-Xiamen are Penghu, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, the government of Xiamen is progressing with a RMB18bn ($2.7bn) project to further develop and modernise the cruise terminal. Close to 100 hectares of land has been set aside to build a shopping mall and entertainment centre, slated for completion by 2018.
