Energy Minister Stuart Young said the Trinidad and Tobago government will foster this.

'We are going to be a leader in the region because we have the products in both LNG and methanol. TT will be at the forefront to ensure that we have the competitive advantage in the diversification towards a maritime industry by supplying these two alternative products,' Young said, according to a report in Trinidad and Tobago Newsday.

Carvahlo's Agencies steps up

Charles Carvalho, CEO of Carvalho's Agencies, a leading ship's agent in the cruise sector, told Seatrade Cruise News: 'At Carvalho’s Agencies, we are ready to coordinate the bunkering process and secure safe and reliable operations.'

Carvahlo will participate at Seatrade Cruise Med in Málaga, Sept. 11-12.

A methanol bunkering demonstration was held this week at Point Lisas where the Uni-Tankers vessel Alsia Swan fueled Seymour Sun, a dual-fuel vessel operated by Waterfront Shipping and owned by NYK.

Newsday reported Methanex partnered with the National Energy Corporation, Paria Fuel Company, Uni-Tankers, Green Marine, Bunker Holding and NYK for the demonstration.
