Italy's government has allowed cruising to resume but Venice has not received cruise ships since the pandemic stalled cruise operations globally.

No work since late 2019

Workers at the port claim not to have worked since November 2019, owing to Venice's high tides and said their monetary benefits will soon be stopped.

Hashtags #ripartiresubito, #startnow, #soluzionisubito, #solutionsnow are amongst those being disseminated by the protesters.

Last year Venice ranked as the second busiest cruise destination in Italy, following Civitaveccchia.
