Viking Sun will sail from London (Greenwich) Aug. 31, 2019, on a grand eight-month journey marking the company's third voyage around the globe. It will nearly double the length of the others.

London to Los Angeles and Los Angeles to London segments

Two shorter segments will be offered: 'Viking World Treasures,' a 127-day sailing from London to Los Angeles that visits 33 countries and 61 ports, and 'Viking World Wonders,' a 119-day journey from Los Angeles to London that visits 29 countries and 55 ports.

As with all Viking itineraries, the fare includes a shore excursion in each port and free unlimited Wi-Fi. World cruisers also receive business class airfare and all gratuities and service fees, along with an extensive list of added-value included features.

And the starting price is ...

Fares start at $92,990.

'Our world cruises offer guests the rare opportunity to unpack once and explore dozens of the best destinations on earth—at a value that is unprecedented in the travel industry,' Viking chairman Torstein Hagen said.

Highlights of the 'Ultimate' journey include easy access to London via Greenwich; Rio de Janeiro, among the 22 overnight stays; Ushuaia, called the 'End of the World,' at Argentina's southern tip; Hobart, Tasmania; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Mumbai, India; and Safaga for Egypt's temples and tombs at Luxor.

Maiden calls in South America

New Viking ports in South America include Chile's Coquimbo (for La Serena) and Iquique, Peru's Matarani (for Arequipa), General San Martín (for Pisco) and Callao (for Lima) and Ecuador's Manta.
