The still-growing Xiamen International Cruise Terminal is expected to reinforce its position as a regional cruise port, acting as the gateway for cruise tourism mainly between China and Taiwan, according to the Xiamen city government.

Given the city’s proximity to Taiwan, the Xiamen government is pushing to enhance Cross-Strait relations.

The government of Xiamen has set aside a land space of close to 100 hectares to grow the cruise terminal, complete with retail shops, shopping malls and entertainment centres.

The new cruise facility is projected to be able to accommodate around 10,000 people at one time, the report said.
