Splendor now has the red, white and blue hull design introduced by Carnival in 2021. In addition, the Southern Cross is on the side.

Southern Cross symbolism

The ship shares that symbolic heritage with Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter that display the Southern Cross on their bows, and will be renamed Carnival Adventure and Carnival Explorer when they switch to the Fun Ship fleet in March 2025.

Throughout history, the Southern Cross constellation helped sailors find their way as they crossed oceans to reach Australia. The five stars were useful nighttime companions and became one of the first symbols of the Great Southern Land.

Upgrades and crew jobs

Carnival announced in June that it will transition the P&O Cruises Australia operations into the Carnival brand next year. Plans are under way for technology upgrades and other systems investments as Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter prepare to join the Carnival fleet.

In anticipation of the changeover, Carnival also has been offering positions to thousands of P&O Cruises Australia crew members when the ships join Carnival.

Along with the new livery, Carnival Splendor will return to service with a number of upgrades to be revealed on the ship's Sydney arrival Sept. 9.
