The vessel returned to service in Barcelona for a 14-day trans-Atlantic voyage to its home, Port Canaveral.

Carnival Freedom, whose funnel was damaged in a May 2022 fire — quickly put out, with no injuries — and repaired at Grand Bahama Shipyard, underwent an extensive refurbishment at Navantia.

New livery and Heroes Tribute Bar

The work included the installation of the new funnel, the addition of the signature Carnival red, white and blue hull livery and a new Heroes Tribute Bar, which honors military veterans and active-duty service members.

Earlier this month, the 2,980-berth ship entered its 16-day dry dock at the Navantia. While the yard has worked on other projects across the Carnival Cruise Line fleet, this is the first time it designed and manufactured a Carnival funnel.

Expanded casino, renovated rooms

Carnival Freedom now also features a Dreams Studio for photographic keepsakes. Some of the other work included expanding the casino, and renovating and upgrading staterooms and public areas.

From Port Canaveral, the ship offers four- and five-day cruises to Bahamas destinations such as Nassau and Princess Cays, as well as Caribbean ports like Grand Turk. Many new itineraries were recently opened for the ship, including Celebration Key, the line's private Bahamas destination opening in 2025.
