Celebrity Constellation has been ‘Solsticized’

Celebrity Cruises coined the word ‘Solsticize’ in January when announcing plans to add Solstice-class features to its Millennium-class ships, and yesterday the term became reality for passengers embarking Celebrity Constellation in Amsterdam.

During a 15-day drydock and revitalization project at Blohm+Voss, the 2002-built ship gained new public rooms, enhanced suites and updated stateroom features.

Added were a Tuscan Grille steak house, the creperie Bistro on Five, an ice-topped Martini Bar, Café al Bacio and Gelateria, and Cellarmasters wine bar with Enomatic wine serving systems allowing passengers to select wines by the glass at the touch of a button.

Celebrity Constellation also gained more sumptuous suites, with all new furniture, flat-screen televisions, upholstery, bedding and carpeting. Staterooms were restyled with new carpeting, flat-screen TVs, upholstery and bedding. All public areas now sport color schemes, carpeting and upholstery reflecting the Solstice class.

Celebrity Infinity and Celebrity Summit will be similarly refurbished in 2011, followed by Celebrity Millennium in 2012.

Following a seven-night cruise through the Norwegian Fjords, Celebrity Constellation will present a series of 12-night Scandinavia and Russia cruises, followed by an eight-night Northern Europe and Mediterranean cruise from Amsterdam to Barcelona.

The ship will sail weekly Mediterranean cruises from the Spanish port before a 14-night trans-Atlantic voyage departing Barcelona Nov. 6, to Port Everglades. There, Celebrity Constellation will operate a pair of 14-night ‘Exotic Caribbean’ cruises prior to embarking on a 15-night Panama Canal voyage to San Diego on Dec. 18.
