China home furnishing giant enters the cruise market

The Chinese home furnishing company Red Star Macalline Group is planning to enter the cruise market and support the nation’s cruise business development.

Red Star Macalline provides homebuilding materials and logistics services and operates shopping malls. The company runs the largest home furnishing and furniture business in China.

Red Star Macalline will work with government departments and industry partners in Baoshan, Shanghai to determine items needed by the cruise sector and play a part in developing the local cruise cluster, according to Che Jianxin, chairman of Red Star Macalline.

Supply chain opportunities with CSSC

The company will seek cooperation opportunities with the state-owned shipbuilding giant China State Shipbuilding Corp. to develop the cruise supply chain, added Xie Jian, president of Red Star Macalline.

As the end of the first half of this year, Red Star Macalline was operating 84 portfolio shopping malls, 231 managed shopping malls and 12 home furnishing shopping malls in strategic partnerships.
