Refurbishments and makeovers, meanwhile, are of increasing value as they become more daring and complex yet are being executed faster than ever.

A Cruise Shipping Miami session will delve into newbuilding and refurbishment, including the outlook for orders, the future for Europe's established cruise builders and suppliers, and the role Asia may play with respect to developments like the memorandum of understanding among Carnival Corp. & plc, Fincantieri and China State Shipbuilding Corp.

The expert panel also will address how technology is impacting projects and changing the way people experience new and refurbished ships.

Speakers include Brynley Davies, managing director, The Image Group; Kevin Douglas, vp technical projects, newbuilding, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.; Ignacio Galán, commercial manager for Cadiz & San Fernando Shipyards, Navantia Group; Mike Kaczmarek vp marine technology, Carnival Corp. & plc; and Jacco van Overbeek, director, global maritime division, Bolidt Synthethic Products and Systems.

Raoul Jack, principal consultant, PFJ-Maritime Consulting Ltd., will serve as moderator for the March 19 morning session at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
