Fred Olsen's Boudicca to get makeover
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ ship, Boudicca, will enter dry-dock in early January 2011, for a refurbishment programme. The work will be carried out by the Blohm+Voss shipyard in Hamburg, when Boudicca returns from her Christmas Canary Islands cruise on January 4, 2011.
A key element of the refurbishment will be the relocation of the Fitness Centre, currently situated on Deck 4, Atlantic Deck, up to the top of the ship – Deck 10, Sun Deck. This will be the same location as the Fitness Centre on sister ship, Black Watch.
The removal of the existing Fitness Centre will create space for 17 new interior cabins. The refit will also see the replacement of the last of the cruise line's open lifeboats.
Mike Rodwell, managing director for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said: 'This refurbishment of Boudicca will provide enhanced fitness facilities for guests, with a new Fitness Centre which will be light and airy, and offer panoramic sea views.
'In addition to the new Fitness Centre and extra cabins, we will also be making a significant investment in four new, enclosed Fassmer lifeboats and two rescue boats from Davit International, which will represent an important upgrade in this area.'
Following her refit, Boudicca will resume service on January 16, 2011, with a 14-night cruise to the Canaries from Southampton.
