'With this alliance in place we are jointly able to offer our clients exceptional service, which is supported by our mutually strong reputations,' said Chris David, chief technical officer, Harris Pye.

The two companies met at Cruise Shipping Miami earlier this year and discussed a mutually beneficial working relationship. Talks continued during OTC in Houston.

Through this alliance Harris Pye said it is able to offer the full range of technical capabilities, from design to full project execution, whilst Grand Bahama Shipyard provides first class facilities and highly skilled labour and management, enabling both parties to offer a permanent presence in the region.

'We share a strategic vision,' according to Graham Couser, svp, Grand Bahama Shipyard. 'As shipping continues to face challenges, we must be able to adapt to the demands and expectations of our customers.

'Both companies are committed to delivering the highest quality engineering,' Couser continued 'The combination of the expertise and specialist skill set of Harris Pye and the GBS location, excellent facilities and ship repair skill base demonstrates our commitment to meeting those expectations.

Couser said the two companies are committed to a long-term viable growth plan and developing business opportunities.
