KONE will supply the 2,850 passenger capacity ships with a total of 46 customised elevators serving the vertical transportation needs of both passengers and crew. The elevators will be hoisted by KONE EcoDis machinery and are based on either the KONE MiniSpaceTM or the machine-room-less KONE MonoSpace platform.

This order follows a previous one announced in 2006 when KONE secured the contract to supply the first three Solstice ships being built by Meyer Werft, the third of which, Celebrity Equinox, enters service next month.

Ari Lehtoranta, evp, major projects, KONE said, ‘these two new orders play an important role in strengthening KONE's leading position in the cruise ship segment.’

KONE's cooperation with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and Meyer Werft goes back to the early 1990s.
