Four-week refit

The complex four-week refit involved the refurbishment of the Latitude and Vista dining areas, including the installation of an ultra-high efficiency lighting system alleged by Trimline to be 15% more efficient than standard LED drivers, saving 130t of Co2 annually.

As well as carpeting 60 cabins, the company installed a fully interactive LED dance floor at Indigo and re-covered loose seats & sofas inside The Mediterranean Bar. Work was also carried out at: Squid & Anchor; The Hideout; the pool deck; The Attic; Umi Sushi; the cinema; Broadway Show Lounge; Coffee Port; Lounge; Bar 53; The Shack; at Destination Services; Cruise Holiday Store.

The project comprised a total 80 Trimline floor layers, decorators, joiners, upholsterers, tilers, electricians, french polishers, welders and hard surface repair specialists.

TAPP app

The TAPP app provided a way for Trimline, its customers, suppliers and contractors to work collaboratively on the project. It comes with progress monitoring functionality and shows a breakdown of planned versus real-time resource hours. Remarked Matt Easton, refurbishment manager, Marella Cruises: ‘By using TAPP I had constant access to live data, allowing me to see exactly where Trimline were against their plan and when an area was ready for sign off.’

He added: ‘We had total transparency throughout the project which gave us confidence that we would complete on-schedule.’ The app shows purchase status, allowing the project management team to view where materials were within the ordering process.

Contractors were able to quickly access all their required travel & working documentation from the TAPP hub with a dedicated contractor portal allowing for the reading and signing of documentation such as risk assessments.

People movement onboard was monitored by a fully automated check-in and -out system.
