P&O Cruises details Grand Atrium onboard Arvia
Arvia’s Grand Atrium has expansive ocean views and will serve as a location for immersive entertainment and dining.
The centrepiece of the P&O Cruises ship, which joins the fleet in December, spans three decks and contains larger sociable areas balanced with more intimate spaces.
‘With its elegant design, warm tones and beautiful custom-made elements, the Grand Atrium onboard Arvia will provide guests with the perfect backdrop to their holiday photos,’ said P&O Cruises’ president Paul Ludlow.
‘The design has made the most of the magical effect of light at different times of the day, so whether guests want to enjoy a morning coffee or evening drink, the Grand Atrium will provide the most spectacular backdrop.’
Performance space
The atrium will be the background for aerial performers who will descend through the triple-height space and an installation of metal champagne-coloured ribbons which frame the staircase. Said its architect and designer, Jennifer de Vere-Hopkins, ‘With its triple-height windows, we wanted to infuse the Grand Atrium with the same sense of energy even outside of the live performances. Its innovative design will capture the movement, freedom and spectacle of the ocean and always connect guests to the sea.’
Food and drink
As well as being a setting for other live events, local buskers, pop-up talks, magicians and performers, the Grand Atrium will be home to Amber Lounge which is home to crafted cocktails. There, passengers will be able to watch mixologists at work while enjoying various performances.
Maiden voyage
Arvia will spend its maiden voyage in the Canary Islands before heading to the Caribbean for winter.
