Refurbishment projects are highly streamlined with narrow time windows, which suits us perfectly. We have invested heavily in establishing reliable routines to meet these demands.

Metalcolour recently celebrated their 50th anniversary giving them the opportunity to look back on how much they have achieved, at the same time as looking forward to how much more they want to progress. The origins of Dobel by Metalcolour lie in response to a market desire. When one particular ship’s captain wanted to have his private cabin covered with a mahogany film Metalcolour were set their very first challenge. At the time such a low volume was considered impossible, but not by them, so they decided to make it happen. This challenge did not just create a new niche market but also their own business philosophy, a drive to reconsider what is possible and continually find new ways to reach perfection.

Passion and commitment

This initial spark of challenge led to a fire that still burns strong within the entire team at Metalcolour. They all share the passionate belief that there is a way to do things better – to deliver faster, to be more flexible, to reach higher standards. This led Metalcolour to develop their very own set of guarantees, a number of assurances to their customers guaranteeing delivery times, quality standards and even gloss finishes. Markus Nordkvist, CEO at Metalcolour Sweden, means that this is a typical example of Metalcolour’s mindset.

“These self-imposed standards were previously unheard of within our sector and have not come from external industrial committees. We do all this not just to provide the very best service and products to our customers but to set ourselves standards to be exceeded in order that we may become a little bit better tomorrow than we are today.“

Listening and responding

Chairman at Metalcolour Sweden, Ingemar Forsberg, says that these challenges come not only from within the company but also from their customers, both new and established.

“We have built our reputation on listening closely to our partners and responding with innovative solutions and a can-do attitude. This is the key to the evolution of Metalcolour and we continue to respond to market desires in the same way we did at the very beginning. The future will always bring new challenges and our growth as a company will not depend on flashy new products or disruptive inventions but on doing what we know best, fine-tuning our products and services to deliver perfection.”

Setting standards

So at Metalcolour it is business as usual. They keep adding new perspectives to all projects which has led to that Metalcolour has played an important role in the development of innovative solutions now considered industry standard.

“We are proud to be one of the first companies within the industry to develop a fully certified fire-proof laminated steel. We are also one of the first companies to offer heat applied protective film and maybe the only one to always offer this for all our products. Heat applied film is easily removed and leaves no residues whatsoever,” says Markus Nordkvist.

“After years of focused dedication we have also driven down the minimum order size to just 10m2, the lowest in the industry by a very large margin.”

Metalcolours most valuable asset

That is not to say that continually delivering the highest quality is easy, as said before, we do not even want to make it easy for ourselves.

High quality requires commitment and at Metalcolour they are extremely proud of all their staff who truly understand the value of their commitment and what that brings to Metalcolour. Markus means that the depth of knowledge and experience their staff possess is second to none with the average duration of employment being upwards of twenty years.

“And so our products are the best on the market for a reason, they are backed up by decades of experience, quality assurance and delivery guarantees.”

Designed and manufactured in Scandinavia

The Scandinavian Standard. Many industries recognise that Scandinavian manufacturing has some of the highest standards in the world and Metalcolour is very pleased to play a role in that strong tradition. Alongside a safe and healthy work environment they continually work towards lowering their impact on the natural environment. Metalcolour now offers laminated metals with a bio-sourced PVC made from Pine Oil, a renewable by-product of the wood pulping industry, sourced from sustainably managed forests. They exclusively purchase fossil-free electricity and use river water instead of drinking water in their cooling processes, this water returns to the river with no impact to the river’s health. They are also a certified zero-pollution clean air company having entirely removed harmful solvents from their production process. “Made 100% in Scandinavia" is a standard Metalcolour is very proud to meet.

Here today and tomorrow

In today’s rapidly evolving world, shaped by data, restructuring, and constant market disruption, Metalcolour remains committed to a steady and consistent approach. With a focus on continuity and meaningful relationships, Metalcolour forges ahead into the future. The Dobel brand by Metalcolour embodies reliability, quality, and strong partnerships—values that define its trusted reputation.
