Tomas Tillberg Design tapped to oversee CFC's Renaissance makeover

Holland America Line's former Maasdam, Renaissance has been in drydock at Damen Yards in Brest since October for a technical refit and makeover.

The ship’s public spaces and cabins are undergoing upgradal under the supervision of Tomas Tillberg Design before its inaugural cruise planned in February 2023.

Tomas Tillberg’s 50-plus years of creativity in interior design for both new ships and refurbishment projects, as well as putting sustainability at the fore, were essential for Clément Mousset and Cedric Rivoire-Perrochat, co-founders of Marseille-based CFC: ‘Tillberg’s expertise in the cruise industry, its capacity to understand our requests and philosophy have been the fundamental keys for selection and we are very happy we did.’

'We feel privileged and proud to be part of such an important event in the cruise industry,’ Tomas Tillberg said.

‘Renaissance means revival and CFC is truly reviving the proud history of the traditional French cruise ships from the 20^th century,’ he added.

A new high-end culinary experience

Replacing the former Microsoft Studio, the 12-guest Table du Chef will offer a Michelin starred chef’s reinterpretation of the menus served onboard former famous French liners such as Normandie and France, among others.

The seven-course meal, food and wine pairing, will be open for booking with a surplus charge of €89,90 per person, including aperitif and wines.      

Revamped bars and pools

Among public spaces being renovated, the Bar Océan will benefit from a new beige and blue colour scheme and featuring live music.

The Café des Explorateurs is getting a new and large counter, where the Renaissance barista will serve specialist coffee and teas.

At the stern of the ship, on Deck 10, the Prado Pool is getting a revamped teak deck. On Deck 11, the Moana main pool, located under a retractable glass roof, is to be fully upgraded and benefit from new furniture.              

Cabins and suites

The 629 staterooms are part of the refit, with new carpets, curtains and minibars. All bathrooms are being overhauled and renovated. In all, over 17,000sq mtr of new carpet will be installed in the cabins, suites and corridors.

Launched in July 2022, CFC envisions a modern and premium version of the traditional ‘croisières à la française,’ sailing exclusively from Le Havre and Marseille on mainly 12-day varied itineraries and catering to travelers seeking discovery, culture and time to enjoy the ship.
