Compagnie Française de Croisières' Renaissance delayed to late June

Compagnie Française de Croisieres postponed the inaugural cruise of Renaissance for a second time, to June 29.

'We are experiencing a technical problem beyond the company's control' that requires hiring a specialist contractor to rectify, said Clément Mousset, CFC president and co-founder with GM Cédric Rivoire-Perrochat.

The 1,100-passenger ship was originally scheduled to debut in February and then in mid-May.

The former Maasdam is undergong a more than €20m refurbishmeent and upgrade at Damen Yards in Brest.

Inaugural festivities June 23-25

The ship's christening and inaugural festivities, planned for May 9-13, are now put back to June 23-25 in Le Havre. The maiden voyage is to embark there on June 29.

Among the compensation offered to passengers on the canceled cruises is refund of up to 50% if they postpone to a later sailing.
