Constellation first up for ‘Solsticizing’

Constellation first up for ‘Solsticizing’
April 24 marks two major events for Celebrity Cruises. Besides the naming of Celebrity Eclipse in Southampton, the line begins the first major design revitalization of its four-ship Millennium series, in Hamburg.

In work lasting to May 9 at Blohm+Voss, Celebrity Constellation will be retrofit with Solstice-class elements.

Today the line released renderings of creperie Bistro on Five and the Tuscan Grille specialty restaurant that will be going into the 2002-built ship.

In addition, Celebrity Constellation will re-enter service with a new ice-topped Martini Bar, the Café al Bacio and Gelateria, and Cellarmasters wine bar including an Enomatic system that provides glasses of wine with the touch of a button.

Further work will include making the suites more sumptuous with all-new furniture, flat-screen televisions, upholstery, bedding and carpeting, and restyling staterooms with new carpeting, flat-screen TVs and soft goods.

New color schemes, carpeting and upholstery will reflect the Solstice look in every public room.

Celebrity president and ceo Dan Hanrahan announced the plans to ‘Solsticize’ the Millennium ships when he rolled out the company’s new ‘Designed for you’ branding in January.
