Fred Olsen enhances on-board shopping experience

Fred Olsen enhances on-board shopping experience
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has added a new jewellery boutique on board Boudicca as part of a recent refit completed by Blohm+Voss in Hamburg. The fitness centre has been relocated to the top of the ship to create 17 new cabins and the previous open-top lifeboats have been replaced.

The new boutique, in the location of the former Port Shop on Deck 5, sells fine jewellery, including pearls, pieces from Clogau Welsh Gold and an extensive range of coloured gemstones, as well as watches from labels such as Nautica and Rotary.

In addition, Boudicca has a new, enhanced Port Shop, situated on Deck 5 opposite the Future Cruise Sales Office. Along with logo clothing and accessories, this shop sells items like toiletries, gifts, confectionery, books, postcards and other cruise essentials in a larger and more pleasant environment.

Fred. Olsen marketing director, Nigel Lingard, said: 'We have recently created a new jewellery boutique on Braemar, along with a larger, relocated Port Shop, and we are hoping that the shopping enhancement to Boudicca will be as popular with guests as it has proved on this ship.'

Neil Harding, chief executive of Harding Brothers, which operates the shops on board Fred. Olsen cruise ships, said: 'By relocating Fine Jewellery and Watches in its own retail space, we have been able to offer a much broader range of brands and styles. We have also brought in a trained jeweller who will be able to give guests all the product information they require and run informative product seminars which make the whole buying experience far more meaningful and fun.'

Harding added, 'It has also enabled us to improve the Main Store with a more extensive range of fashion clothes and costume jewellery, both of which are always very popular with guests.'
