KONE gives a lift to Norwegian Epic
Elevator/escalator giant KONE scored one of its largest single-ship contracts by supplying and installing 41 units on Norwegian Epic. The order included 32 elevators, two dumbwaiters, one easy access platform and six escalators. KONE said the energy-efficient elevators were designed and manufactured by its production facility in Finland, the specialized unit for customized elevators such as shipboard installations. ‘We are proud to contribute with our top-of-the-range People Flow solutions for this remarkable ship,’ said Ari Lehtoranta, evp major projects business, KONE. KONE also supplied elevators and escalators for this year’s MSC Magnifica, Celebrity Eclipse and Allure of the Seas.
