Carnival Pride embarked Sunday from Barcelona on its first sailing of the Europe summer season, sporting upgrades completed at Navantia Shipyard in Cadiz.

These included improved accessibility for travelers with disabilities, a new Heroes Tribute Bar, Chef’s Table, Dreams Studio and Carnival Adventures Shop. In addition, the ship’s steak house was refreshed and renamed Fahrenheit 555, the casino expanded and the spa rebranded to the Cloud 9 Spa and Fitness Center.

Red, white and blue livery

The 2001-built ship also gained Carnival Cruise Line's new red, white and blue livery.

Carnival President Christine Duffy and Chief Culinary Officer Emeril Lagasse visited Carnival Pride at the Port of Barcelona before its departure.

'I’m so proud of our team. They have done amazing work refreshing and enhancing Carnival Pride just in time for her Europe sailings,' Duffy said. 'We welcome everyone on Carnival ships, so we are happy we’ve completed the work to make the ship accessible to those with disabilities. I’m also delighted to see the addition of the Heroes Tribute bar since it has been popular with our guests and has resonated well with military service members and their families.'

Carnival Pride entered Navantia April 28 and left Cadiz May 26.

Itineraries and expanded 2024 season

The ship's first cruise of the season, 12 days, will travel to Dover via ports including Lisbon, Le Havre and Zeebrugge. Carnival Pride is scheduled to operate varied itineraries from Dover, Barcelona and Civitavecchia (Rome) through Oct. 28. Then it will reposition to Tampa, arriving Nov. 12.

Next year, Carnival will expand its European season with 17 cruises operated by Carnival Legend. The 2024 program includes eight-, nine-, 10- and 12-day itineraries.
