Newly revitalised Monarch after a 21 day refit in Freeport
Pullmantur Cruises has invested more than $10m in revitalizing Monarch at Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport.

The operation involved around 1,200 workers, between in-house and external personnel from 29 different companies.

The 21 day refit included works on cabins and public areas and ranged from renovation of carpets, upholstery, bathrooms and furnishings, as well as different works in the bars and restaurants  - to optimize space - and the pool, jacuzzi and shopping areas.

A technical inspection was also carried out, as well as the implementation of new features that will contribute to making the operation more efficient and environmentally-friendly, says the Spanish-based cruise operator.

Monarch has resumed its scheduled program, operating in Central America with turnarounds in Colon, Panama and Cartagena de Indias in Colombia.

More than 15,000sq mtr of carpet has been replaced: 12,600sq mtr in public areas and 2,750sq mtr in the cabins.

In addition, more than 1,000sq mtr of fabrics have been used for the upholstery of chairs and armchairs in bars and communal areas.

The jacuzzi area, spa and shopping areas have also been completely renovated and a new solarium added on deck 12.

New spaces have been created for future bookings and to manage the customized attention to passengers staying in the suite and junior suite categories.

New signage has been added for all food & beverage and recreational areas, using names that are linked closer to Spanish and Latino culture.
