The Verandah - French cuisine, light and elegant décor
Queen Mary 2 will add The Verandah, a restaurant that harkens back to Cunard's first Verandah Grill aboard Queen Mary in 1936. The restaurant will serve French regional cuisine with seasonal influences.

Already aboard Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria, The Verandah will replace the Todd English restaurant on Queen Mary 2.

The change is part of the liner's significant refit scheduled for June at Blohm+Voss.

The Verandah will have a light and elegant décor, and will be open for lunch and dinner, at a surcharge. A bar will be available for drinks before and after dining.

'We are proud to continue the legacy of our earlier ships while adapting for today’s discerning luxury traveler,' said Rick Meadows, president of Cunard North America.

The original Verandah Grills were reserved for first class passengers and were considered the most exclusive dining rooms at sea, on par with private clubs in London, New York and Paris. They provided extra privacy for the rich and famous, including royal visitors, Hollywood stars and leaders such as Winston Churchill, Fred Astaire, Charlie Chaplin, Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo and Elizabeth Taylor.
