August 2020 drydock
The second drydock period is scheduled for summer 2020. Subsequently, the ship will be deployed on both classic and expedition itineraries.
Project Invictus was announced following Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.'s investment in Silversea.
Silver Wind's second refurbishment will begin in August 2020. Along with the ice-class hull and equipment for cruising in remote regions, the ship will gain a fleet of Zodiacs and kayaks.
Further changes include another full suites upgrade, an improved theater, a completely refurbished spa and salon, and additional improvements to La Dame, La Terrazza, the main bar, the Observation Lounge, the Panorama Lounge, the Pool Bar and public bathrooms.
Larger suites, fewer passengers
By accommodating fewer passengers—254, down from 294 now—Silver Wind will offer higher space ratios, a higher crew-to-guest ratio and more upper suites.
Mediterranean to Antarctica
Silver Wind will continue traveling to iconic destinations like the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, along with expedition destinations including the Arctic and Antarctica.
The enhanced ship will resume service on Nov. 10, 2020, with an inaugural season in Antarctica. On Nov. 21, Silver Wind will sail round-trip from Ushuaia and call at the Falkland Islands before crossing the Drake Passage to the Antarctic Sound, Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands.
Just-completed changes
During the 2018 refurbishment, public spaces underwent extensive renovations. The show lounge, the restaurant, the card and conference room, and the library were comprehensively revamped. New carpets throughout the ship and refurbished corridors have also invigorated public spaces. All suites were upgraded and balcony floors have been enhanced. Decks were renovated and outdoor furniture replaced.
