Within that increase, yacht cruising is up 52%, river cruising 29%, expedition cruising 19% and ocean cruising 15%.

This follows a June survey of Virtuoso advisors where 58% expected cruising would emerge as the strongest leisure travel sector in 2024.

'Every sector is doing well,' according to Virtuoso's Misty Belles, VP global public relations.

'Really great year'

'Virtuoso's had a really great year,' Belles said.

Tourism Economics research has leisure travel at 126% of where it was in 2019. For Virtuoso, the figure is 211%.

Virtuoso reached 2019 levels in 2022 and continued to grow, Belles said.

This year is 14% above 2023, a 'very robust year.'

Virtuoso Travel Week kicked off in Las Vegas with more than 4,700 professionals from 97 countries at this 36th annual event.
