Interior work is well under way with carpeting and furniture to soon be installed. The sliding glass doors leading to the private balconies are in place and exterior painting is nearly complete. The electrical systems were installed in recent weeks.

Scheduled next are installation of the paddlewheel, woodwork trim and other architectural details.

Of American Eagle's 84 staterooms, 78 feature large private balconies, all with sliding glass doors. The new riverboat will offer modern amenities in a style meant to emulate the classic late 1800s riverboats.

The vessel will operate primarily on the Lower Mississippi between New Orleans and Memphis. A number of unusual voyages are planned, including the recently announced 22-day 'Complete Mississippi Cruise.'
