Cunard Line, Costa Crociere, Ibero Cruceros and P&O Cruises, in conjunction with Higher Resources, have developed a special care awareness training program specifically for port agents and ground services representatives, who play an essential role providing support to our guests and crew in every day emergencies and in the aftermath of a crisis.

The two-day training programme, used by cruise lines, has been condensed into a 2.5 hour informative session specifically created for Seatrade Europe. Care awareness training uses a practical approach aimed at empowering first responders in business and industry to support individuals facing traumatic situations.

Carnival UK ceo David Dingle said: 'We pride ourselves in the outstanding service and holiday experience we offer our passengers on board our ships, and we are committed to delivering the same service, support and care to both our passengers and our crew if difficult circumstances befall them. Our Care programme was started seven years ago and has helped hundreds of passengers and crew both in the UK, on board and in our ports of call. We are very proud of the team and the round the clock emotional and practical support it offers. We are delighted to be sharing this knowledge with port and ground agents and I would strongly recommend attendance at this session.'

The program, based on Human Services Response by Dr. Carolyn V. Coarsey, uses her 27 years of research experience and lessons learned from survivors and families of those who have gone through a critical event. This interactive course includes video interviews of cruise line survivors and families, group discussion and role-plays.

The program provides the skills needed for compassionate support of cruise ship guests and crew when affected by a traumatic event, such as large scale disruption, mass rescue operations, shore excursion accidents, man overboard and criminal or sexual assaults.

This session will be free of charge at Seatrade Europe for all registered conference delegates, and also for all registered exhibitors.
