Costa Fascinosa, currently sailing a seven day cruise in the East Med, provided support for a medical emergency onboard a fishing boat in the Adriatic Sea, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Captain Orazio D’Aita, master of Costa Fascinosa, received a call from the San Benedetto del Tronto Coast Guard in Italy requesting assistance for a medical emergency involving a crewman onboard a fishing vessel suffering from abdonimal pains.

At the time, Costa Fascinosa was cruising from Venice to Bari.

The ship left her route to reach the boat and the seafarer was taken onboard where the doctor provided initial medical treatment, stabilizing the patient's condition.

The seafarer was then transferred to a Coast Guard speed boat allowing Costa Fascinosa to resumed her course towards Bari as per her planned voyage route and itinerary.
