AAPA Cruise Seminar to tackle planning, logistics, communications
Terminal development and itinerary planning, passenger and vehicle logistics, use of technology in Customs and Border Protection passenger inspections and crisis communications are among the topics to be addressed at the American Association of Port Authorities’ 2015 Cruise Seminar.
February 5, 2015
The event is set for Feb. 10-12 at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six in Fort Lauderdale, and includes awards presentations to two key port figures.
Sharing environmental best practices, exploring solutions to environmental challenges, maximizing passenger experiences in homeport cities and peer-to-peer networking are also on tap for seminar participants.
'For the many professionals who work in the cruise industry at ports, there’s nothing like getting together with their industry colleagues to learn new ways of doing things and how to avoid some of the pitfalls that others have already experienced,' said AAPA's Susan Monteverde, vp government relations and liaison to AAPA’s Cruise Committee.
AAPA will present Cruise Awards to J. Robert Jumonviilllle, former cruise and tourism director for the Port of New Orleans, and René Trépaniier, executive director of the Cruise the Saint Lawrence Association.
Jumonville is being recognized for his vision of the phenomenal growth of the Port of New Orleans’ cruise passenger business and its terminal and cruise-related visitor assets. Trépanier’s honor relates to being 'the face' of destination marketing for the Saint Lawrence and his association's nine cruise ports.
The Cruise Seminar is produced and sponsored by AAPA and hosted and co-sponsored by Port Everglades, with additional sponsorships from AECOM, Bermellllo Ajamiil & Partners and Cruiseport Boston.
